Real Estate, Land Use, Business, Construction, and Environmental Law and Litigation:
- Represented residential and commercial developers before local, state and federal boards and agencies on environmental and land use matters, including zoning, subdivision, wetlands, waterways (Chapter 91), sewer, hazardous waste, "green building" and sustainable development, environmental impact reports, and discharge permits.
- Counseled buyers and sellers of contaminated properties on Brownfields development, including liability protections, remediation plans, and environmental insurance products.
- Advised general contractors, subcontractors, owners and designers on contract documents and negotiations, mechanics liens, bonding and surety issues, and dispute resolution.
- Advised start-up companies and business clients on establishing and maintaining corporate entities, protecting intellectual property, financing and employment agreements.
- Litigated property, environmental, construction and business disputes in state and federal courts and before state agencies.
- Defended against government enforcement actions, including alleged wetlands and hazardous waste violations.
- Experienced with affordable housing, permitting and development under the “Comprehensive Permit” law, Chapter 40B.
- Substantial experience with municipal law having served as Town Counsel for many municipalities and the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in his Town.
- Negotiated the purchase and sale, leasing and financing of commercial and multi-family residential properties.
- Designated as a LEED® Accredited Professional (LEED® AP) under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System.
- Lectured at seminars for lenders, developers, contractors, regional planners, and environmental professionals.
- Practical experience with regulatory agencies.
