Energy, Telecommunications, Litigation, and Labor & Employment Law:
- Develop and negotiate engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreements and turbine and power generation equipment contracts;
- Advise on all phases of power plant RFP development;
- Assist in all phases of power plant siting and permitting before agencies such as the Energy Facilities Siting Board, Department of Public Utilities, the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act unit and Department of Environmental Protection;
- Represent clients in connection with electric and telecommunications projects before all local boards, including zoning and planning boards;
- Develop and negotiate dark fiber leases, colocation agreements and voice over internet protocol agreements for utilities, telecommunications providers and educational institutions;
- Develop and negotiate cable television licenses;
- Responsible for all phases of litigation before state and federal courts on matters such as power supply contract disputes, unjust and discriminatory rate practices and FERC appeals;
- Advise on all aspects of public construction bidding laws and represent clients in bidding challenges;
- Provide counseling and representation for utility and telecommunications clients in employment-related matters including discrimination and wrongful termination claims;
- Draft employee policy manuals;
- Advise on a wide variety of municipal law issues, including land transfers, finance, open meetings and ethics; and
- Draft special legislation and home rule petitions.
