Michael A. Burkett

Michael Burkett is a skilled and highly versatile lawyer in Rubin and Rudman’s office in Boston, where he is a member of multiple practice groups.

Mike acts as general counsel for a Boston-based import/export business, where he advises on corporate governance, corporate finance, commercial contracts, business operations, and related issues. Another aspect of Mike’s practice includes the representation of broker-dealers, registered representatives and corporate clients in investigations and administrative litigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and various state regulators. He regularly advises clients on securities regulation compliance at the state and federal levels and assists on issues regarding registration, exemption, and disclosure standards within offering documents. In addition, Mike assists clients on their compliance with regulatory laws outside the U.S.

Mike also represents institutional and private clients in all aspects of commercial real estate development, including permitting, federal, state and city regulatory compliance, conveyance, financing and refinancing. He provides zoning analysis to clients detailing requirements and issues related to the client’s proposed use, applicable zoning laws, environmental issues, and state and municipal compliance.

A significant part of Mike’s practice involves representing individuals, and corporate and institutional clients in several areas of commercial litigation, insurance litigation, and arbitration, including corporate law, securities fraud, personal injury defense, zoning, alcoholic beverages law, and estate disputes.

Prior to joining Rubin and Rudman, Mike Burkett practiced law at another firm in Boston, where he focused on commercial litigation, as well as zoning, leasing, alcohol beverages and entertainment licensing. Mike is a former law clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court for the 2004-2005 term.
