Richard Kutia focuses his practice on estate planning, estate and trust administration, tax planning and business succession planning for high-net-worth individuals and families. In addition to providing core estate planning strategies, Richard advises clients on sophisticated vehicles, including irrevocable life insurance trusts, grantor-retained annuity trusts, and sales and transfers to intentionally defective grantor trusts. Prior to joining Rubin and Rudman, Richard was part of Pabian & Russell’s business succession planning team. Richard also helps the owners of closely-held businesses maximize, preserve and protect the value of their companies through proactive succession planning that formalizes the process of transitioning businesses to new ownership.

Known for drafting estate plans with an eye towards minimizing estate taxes and securing clients’ wealth for future generations, Richard helps guide clients with knowledge on issues that may not be obvious at first glance. Clients also seek his assistance with estate administration matters and the preparation and filing of federal and state estate tax returns.

Richard received an LL.M. in Taxation with a concentration in estate planning through Boston University. In this program, Richard honed his expertise in the internal revenue code provisions relevant to estate and tax planning. This experience allows him to provide clients with cutting-edge tax planning tools and strategies.

Richard is an active member of the Boston Estate Planning Council, where he serves on the Golf Committee. Richard also enjoys sharing his knowledge through speaking at legal seminars on the topic of estate and long-term care planning issues. Over the course of his career, he has served on panels for organizations such as the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and HalfMoon Education, Inc.
