Rubin and Rudman LLP, a prominent mid-size firm based in Boston and one of the largest firms in Massachusetts, is seeking an experienced associate (also open to contract partners, sometimes known as income partners) to join our practice. Our Real Estate group is a cornerstone of the firm, renowned for its role in shaping some of Boston’s most iconic developments, including the Boston Harbor Hotel, Rowes Wharf, and South Station. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of representing clients in a wide range of complex commercial real estate transactions and will be able to work both independently and in collaboration with other attorneys. Of particular importance is the candidate’s understanding of the firm’s long-standing client relationships and willingness and ability to fit seamlessly into the team approach cultivated within specific practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing for retail, industrial, and office spaces.
- Work with a diverse group of developers, financiers, and other stakeholders in the acquisition, development, financing, and leasing of commercial properties at local, regional, and national levels.
- Provide guidance and counsel on legal and business matters related to commercial real estate, including negotiating and drafting acquisition and disposition documentation, construction, and permanent loan agreements.
- Conduct due diligence, including reviewing contracts, documents, and title reports to identify and resolve issues.
- Negotiate, draft, and finalize commercial leases, subleases, ground leases and related lease documentation for clients’ real estate holdings (for both landlords and tenants), ensuring all agreements are negotiated efficiently and in the clients’ best interests.
- Advise clients on complex legal issues involving lab/tough tech properties, suburban office parks, and downtown office buildings.
Requirements:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar.
- 5-7 years of experience in commercial real estate law, with significant experience in all aspects of real estate transactions.
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
