Rubin and Rudman Continues to Grow Trusts and Estates Practice with Addition of Experienced Elder Law Partner, Lisa M. Neeley

November 10, 2022

Boston, MA (November 2022) – Regional law firm Rubin and Rudman has added veteran estate planning attorney Lisa M. Neeley as a partner in the firm’s Trusts and Estates Department. Neeley also strengthens Rubin and Rudman’s emergent Elder Law practice. She concentrates her practice on elder law with an emphasis on Medicaid applications and appeals, estate and special needs planning, probate administration, and guardianship and conservatorship proceedings.

Neeley’s niche area of expertise focuses on the preparation and filing of complex MassHealth applications, and in providing client representation in appeals of applications that have been denied for a variety of legal reasons. In addition to her elder law practice, Neeley routinely assists clients of all ages in the preparation of estate and long-term care planning documents, including powers of attorney, health care proxies, wills, and trusts used to accomplish various planning goals. She also advises special needs individuals regarding estate-planning documents best suited for the lifetime management of funds, while maintaining eligibility for government benefits.  Neeley has extensive experience handling Medicaid appeals in both the superior and appellate courts.

With more than 15 years of law firm experience, Neeley was most recently a Partner at Mirick O’Connell and chair of the the firm’s Trusts and Estates Department. Prior to that, Neeley was an Officer at Fletcher Tilton PC.

“Our firm, our T&E Department and our Elder Law practice group is indeed fortunate to welcome someone with Lisa’s depth of experience, breadth of knowledge and an unwavering commitment to providing quality legal services, to an often times, vulnerable population” said John J. McGivney, Managing Partner at Rubin and Rudman.

“We are definitely building something over here,” said Steven Cohen, head of the firm’s Elder Law practice. “Lisa complements our existing practice and expands our capabilities to provide important and complicated services to our elder law clients.”

Neeley will continue to see her clients in her personal office at 1900 W. Park Drive, Suite 280, Westborough, as well as in Boston.

”I am thrilled to be joining Rubin and Rudman and its growing Elder Law practice group. I am looking forward to adding my expertise in appeals and litigation to provide the group with the depth of practice to handle virtually any type of complex elder law matter,” said Neeley.

Neeley frequently speaks to bar associations, attorneys, and financial professionals regarding long-term care and estate planning topics. She has published several law review articles concerning long-term care planning and Medicaid eligibility topics. She has been quoted in the Boston Globe, Washington Post, Law 360, and Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

Neeley is an ACTEC fellow.  She is also an active member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and serves on the organization’s advocacy committee. In 2016, she was a recipient of NAELA’s John J. Ford Litigation Advocacy Award in recognition of her dedication and commitment to people as they age and to individuals with special needs. Neeley has been named a Massachusetts “Super Lawyer” by Boston magazine and Law & Politics every year since 2018. In 2022, she was honored by “Super Lawyers” as a Top 50 Female Attorney in Massachusetts and as a Top 100 Attorney in Massachusetts and in 2021, she was selected by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as a “Lawyer of the Year” for her work on two cases that she successfully argued before the Supreme Judicial Court.
