LEGAL ASSISTANT

Heather Heidtke

Debra is a trusted advisor to individuals and families seeking thoughtful, long-term solutions in trusts and estates planning, estate and trust administration, philanthropic planning, and elder law.

For more than three decades, she has helped multi-generational families protect their assets, plan for the future, and align their estate plans with their personal and philanthropic values.

Debra brings particular strength in guiding families through the complexities of wealth transfer and succession planning. Her practice includes advising clients on tax-efficient estate planning, legacy and charitable giving, long-term care planning, and special needs planning. She is known for her ability to create highly individualized strategies that reflect each family’s unique goals, values, and relationships. Her work frequently involves helping business owners transition leadership to the next generation and administering trusts, estates, and foundations with care and precision.

Recognized as a leader in both estate planning and elder law, Debra combines deep legal knowledge with a doctorate in social policy and philanthropy. Her academic and professional background gives her a rare perspective on the human side of planning—particularly when working with aging clients, caregivers, and families of children with special needs. Her clients value her ability to help them make confident decisions today that will provide clarity and protection for their loved ones tomorrow.

In addition to her legal practice, Debra is deeply committed to public service and nonprofit leadership. She has served as Chair of the Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees and was appointed to the American Hospital Association Board of Governors. She currently serves on the Board of Visitors at McLean Hospital, the Planned Giving Advisory Council for The Carter Center in Atlanta, and the Board of the Anti-Defamation League, New England. She was recently elected to the Board of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).
