Julayne Lazar has focused her over twenty-year legal career exclusively on employment and labor law. At the beginning of her legal career, Julayne was employed at several administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Office of the Attorney General, and the Department of Unemployment Assistance. These experiences have afforded her unique, first-hand knowledge of the agencies’ regulations that she continues to practice before today.
Prior to joining Rubin and Rudman, Julayne was a partner at a management-side employment and labor firm. In this capacity, Julayne defended multi-state clients in employment litigation and labor arbitrations in a broad depth of industries. Additionally, Julayne provided practical advice on all aspects of the employment life cycle, developed compliant HR processes and policies, and counseled her clients to find creative solutions to employment situations.
Julayne has also held director-level positions at several entities where she functioned as in-house employment and labor counsel, overseeing all employment litigation and counseling HR. Julayne also has a background of working with unionized workforces, previously as Director of Labor Relations to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Revenue, and also provides guidance to employers in improving employee relations at the start of union activity. Julayne is often called upon to first chair negotiations, ensuring her client’s priorities are met at the bargaining table.
