Environmental & Land-Use Associate

Rubin Rudman, a prominent mid-sized law firm based in Boston, is seeking an associate with at least five years of experience to join our Environmental & Land Use practice. The ideal candidate will have substantive experience advising property owners and developers, investors, and other clients on project development, permitting, zoning, subdivision, and other land use matters, environmental regulatory matters, and real property disputes. Experience appearing before zoning boards, planning boards, conservation commissions, and state and federal agencies is required. Candidates must also have experience handling administrative appeals and with litigation practice in state court (including Land Court) and federal court.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop permitting strategies
  • Secure project approvals
  • Navigate zoning, environmental and other regulatory requirements of projects
  • Handle any real property disputes that may affect or delay development projects
  • Work closely with environmental consultants, engineers, architects, planners, and other technical professionals throughout the permitting and regulatory process and related appeals

 

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school; admission and good standing with the Massachusetts Bar
  • 5+ years’ ​experience in environmental and land use at a respected law firm (regional, national, or boutique)
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills (writing sample required)
  • Ability to manage multiple matters proactively and independently within a team-based setting

Compensation

The firm’s expected salary range for this position is $175,000-$225,000. Actual salary will be determined based on education, experience, internal equity and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
