Family Law Associate
We are seeking an associate with two (2) to four (4) years of experience to join our highly regarded Family Law Department. Widely considered one of the most experienced and trusted in Massachusetts, our Family Law group is consistently recognized for its depth of experience and strong client advocacy, and remains a defining strength of the firm. The ideal candidate will have sophisticated experience advising high-net-worth individuals in a range of domestic relations matters.
Our Family Law Department represents clients in all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, child support, alimony, asset division, modifications, contempts, guardianships, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. The team handles both straightforward matters and complex disputes involving family-owned and closely held businesses, significant assets, and high-conflict parenting issues.
The ideal candidate will have strong litigation and writing skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple matters with sensitivity and discretion. Compassion, empathy, and the ability to build genuine rapport with clients and colleagues are essential, along with a commitment to serving as a steadfast advocate throughout every stage of a client’s matter.
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Prepare financial statements and compile supporting documentation for negotiations and court submissions.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and other written work.
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Maintain direct client contact, providing guidance through sensitive personal and financial transitions.
- Help clients navigate both the legal process and the practical considerations involved in family law disputes.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school; admission and good standing with the Massachusetts Bar
- 2–4 years of experience in family law at a respected law firm (regional, national, or boutique)
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters proactively and independently within a team-based setting
Compensation
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $110,000-$160,000. Actual salary will be determined based on education, experience, internal equity, and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
